In a shocking turn of events, Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has become the victim of an alleged blackmail scheme, igniting headlines across South Korea. A woman in her 20s has been accused of sending the soccer star a fake ultrasound in June last year, claiming to be pregnant with his child. Authorities say she received around $214,000 in exchange for her silence.

The woman, identified only by her last name Yang, was arrested after a South Korean court issued a warrant. Alongside her, a man in his 40s, who approached Son in March demanding $50,000 to not reveal the scandal, was also detained. Both individuals were deemed flight risks by the court.

Son’s agency promptly requested an investigation, affirming that he is the victim in this troubling situation. They expressed regret to fans for the unwelcome distraction caused by the scandal. When questioned by journalists, both Yang and the other suspect, known as Yong, remained tight-lipped.

Son Heung-min, 32, is not just a prominent figure in British soccer but also a beloved star in his native South Korea, where he holds the record for the most goals by a Korean in European leagues and made history as the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot. He has recently returned to play after recovery from a foot injury and is set to feature in the forthcoming Europa League final against Manchester United.
