Monty the giant schnauzer has made history by winning Best in Show at the 149th Westminster Kennel Club dog show held in New York City. After reaching the final three times in the past, the five-year-old dog triumphed against over 2,500 competitors, earning its place as the first giant schnauzer ever to achieve this honor. Monty stood out during the three-day competition, catching the eye of judge Paula Nykiel, who highlighted how the breed’s ideal qualities were met. Monty’s owner, Katie Bernardin, celebrated the victory, saying, "The puppy did the damn thing." The show, known as the second-longest running sporting event in the U.S., continues to be a highlight for dog lovers nationwide. Monty's success even overshadowed other remarkable contenders like Bourbon, the nine-year-old whippet, who took home the reserve title.
