Suspected crime boss Daniel Kinahan has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates for alleged serious organized crime offenses.

Kinahan, aged in his 40s, was taken into custody in Dubai following a warrant issued by the Irish courts, as reported by the Irish national broadcaster RTÉ.

Dubai police confirmed the arrest occurred on Wednesday, April 15, after intensive search and surveillance operations.

The Irish police, known as An Garda Síochána, acknowledged awareness of the arrest involving an Irish national.

Authorities in Dubai stated that the capture of the Irish fugitive stems from his alleged involvement in an international organized crime network.

This arrest is part of broader efforts to tackle cross-border crime.

The warrant was based on a detailed judicial file received from Irish authorities, outlining Kinahan's alleged crimes and his links to international criminal organizations.

Based on this documentation, the Dubai Public Prosecution issued a warrant to commence legal procedures for his extradition.

Assuring swift action, Kinahan was apprehended within 48 hours of the warrant being issued.

According to Gardaí, the arrest aligns with the extradition agreement between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.

The situation regarding the arrest remains under the jurisdiction of the UAE authorities for the time being.

An official statement from An Garda Síochána remarked, Today's arrest is another extremely important demonstration of the need for international law enforcement cooperation in tackling transnational organized crime.
