At least 35 people were killed in Israeli air strikes on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen on Wednesday, according to the Iran-backed group's health ministry.

The Israeli military confirmed that it struck military targets in the capital Sanaa and al-Jawf province, claiming it was in response to recent missile and drone attacks on Israel.

However, the Houthis' military spokesman countered that the targets impacted were civilian, with casualties including journalists and passersby when newspaper offices were hit.

On Thursday morning, the Israeli military reported successfully intercepting a missile launched from Yemen.

In a stark warning, one of the Houthi leaders vowed to retaliate against the Israeli strikes 'with all our might'.

Videos shared online depicted black smoke billowing from the sites of the explosions, while first responders worked amidst the rubble of destroyed buildings.

The recent air strikes are part of a larger pattern of conflict as the Houthis have been attacking Israel since the war between Israel and Hamas reignited in October 2023. The Israeli government has emphasized that they will continue to target what it refers to as 'terror facilities' in response to ongoing threats.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, 'Whoever strikes us, whoever attacks us - we will reach them'. Meanwhile, the Houthi leadership has urged all Israelis to stay vigilant as they prepare for potential retaliation.
