In the midst of ongoing protests against federal actions in Portland, residents decided to make a statement by taking part in an impromptu edition of the World Naked Bike Ride. Despite the rainy and cool weather, participants donned minimal clothing, with many going completely nude, while others sported colorful costumes like inflatable frogs and unicorns. This unique mode of protest aimed at voicing opposition to President Trump's policies, especially regarding the deployment of federal troops to manage civil unrest. Organizer Janene King emphasized the event’s significance, describing it as a quintessentially Portland way to protest. Although fewer riders were fully naked due to the weather, the spirit of the ride, aimed at combining joy and resistance, remained strong. With the event routinely held since 2004, the naked ride continues to celebrate freedom and community spirit while addressing important political issues.
