Call me Ringo. That's what the former Beatles drummer says when asked if we should call him Sir.
In a relaxed setting at the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood, Starr sat down to discuss his new country album, Long Long Road. Though he was knighted in 2018, he humors the idea of being called 'Sir Ringo,' preferring a more casual title.
I've always loved the attitude of LA, he shares, having made it his home since the 1970s. His album showcases collaborations with talented artists like Sheryl Crow and St. Vincent, reflecting a musical journey that started long before Beatles fame.
That's how I did it. I made all my mistakes on stage, Starr candidly recalls, encouraging newer generations to collaborate rather than practice alone. He evokes laughter reminiscing about how his early drumming disturbed neighbors.
Starr's love for country music, rooted in his Liverpool upbringing, shines through as he discusses the vibrancy of country today. Liverpool loved country. I know I loved it, he said, sharing fond memories of the genre's early influences.
As he prepares for a tour and juggles being both a singer and a drummer, Starr shares playful anecdotes about his past while hinting at the future. His legacy, rich with music and laughter, reminds us all to connect and create in community.
