The Seattle Seahawks produced a devastating defensive display to beat the New England Patriots and claim their second Super Bowl victory.
Two of the NFL's strongest defenses battled it out in Sunday’s showpiece and the Seahawks emphatically came out on top to win 29-13 at Levi's Stadium.
Seattle's 46-year-old defensive coordinator, Aden Durde, has created a feared defense known as 'the Dark Side', which showed its mettle on the biggest stage of American football.
New England’s quarterback, Drake Maye, was overwhelmed by the Seahawks’ pressure, resulting in six sacks, three turnovers, and a defensive touchdown. The Seahawks led the game with a halftime score of 9-0 and never looked back.
As coach Mike Macdonald noted, “We were the better team; we’re the best team,” emphasizing the team unity that carried them to victory.
Despite the loss, Maye displayed moments of hope for the Patriots by finding Mack Hollins for a touchdown. However, the Patriots couldn’t recover from a series of costly turnovers.
With this win, the Seahawks continue to cement their legacy in the NFL, while the Patriots will have to regroup after falling short of a historic seventh Super Bowl title.
