A dozen U.S. senators are calling for more transparency concerning the records of Jeffrey Epstein, the late sex offender. The Justice Department has faced criticism for not releasing all files by the deadline set by the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Led by Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski and 11 Democrats, the letter to the Justice Department’s inspector general stresses the importance of a neutral evaluation of the DOJ’s compliance with this law. They argue that the victims deserve full disclosure to identify those who enabled Epstein's crimes. This comes alongside claims from Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, who highlighted that the DOJ missed the deadline for disclosure, calling it a breach of the law. While some records have been released, many remain heavily redacted, leading to accusations of a “blatant cover-up” from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
