Streamer’s Death Sparks Criminal Convictions in France

When French streamer Raphaël Graven collapsed on a live stream in August 2025, viewers watched a tragedy unfold on the platform Kick. The incident sparked a court case against two fellow creators, Safine Hamadi (18‑month suspended sentence) and Owen Cenazandotti (two‑year suspended sentence), who received fines from €5,000 to €15,000.

The judges ruled that, while the two men contributed to a hostile environment, they were not charged with manslaughter. The death was linked mainly to Graven’s fragile heart. The court also dismissed accusations of psychological abuse, noting that Graven had signaled his consent to the stunts before he passed.

Kick’s response: the platform says it was not part of the proceedings and remains under investigation by French authorities. Meanwhile, the two convicted creators are banned from posting on Kick for six months.

Graven, who had a following of more than a million followers across multiple social media platforms, had built a community on Kick. Unfortunately, intrusions of violence and humiliation on his livestream contributed to the tragedy. The video of his death has since been removed from the platform.

The case highlights the risks of extreme challenge content and the importance of safe streaming practices.
