A poisoned satay made headlines in Indonesia
In a cold May day, Purwadi Wahyudi, 40, sent chicken skewers to the house of the 57‑year‑old his wife’s mother. Instead of the usual spicy flavor, the satay was soaked in a rat‑poison chemical that killed the woman, Aminah, when she ate it.
Police traced the delivery back to the shop where Purwadi bought the satay, and later found a fake online‑delivery profile that used the name and photo of Aminah’s daughter to lure the food to the house.
Investigators recovered the packaging, examined the contents and found toxins in the victim’s organs. The case was covered as a carefully planned murder, showing that a seemingly innocent food item can carry deadly substances if someone has up‑to‑no‑good intentions.
Purwadi is now detained but has not yet been formally charged, and he faces the possibility of a 20‑year prison term or death if convicted.
