Three men have been found guilty in the brutal murders of Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their U.S. friend Carter Rhoad in Ensenada, Mexico.
The victims, all early thirties, were shot in the head after what the court described as a botched robbery at a secluded beach. Their bodies were hidden in a well, discovered a week later, after the trio crossed into Mexico.
The sentencing saw life terms for the three men, while the ringleader’s girlfriend received a 20‑year prison term. The murders shocked families back in Australia and prompted demands for better security for tourists.
Baja California governor Marina del Pilar Ávila later reassured the public that the state remains a safe tourist destination, though the incident has intensified calls for stricter safety measures.
