Gaza's Hamas-run civil defence reports that eleven people were killed, all from the same family, after their bus was struck by an Israeli tank shell in northern Gaza. This incident occurred in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City as the family was attempting to inspect their home amidst ongoing conflict.

The Israeli military suggested that soldiers fired at what they termed a 'suspicious vehicle' that allegedly approached a restricted area still occupied by Israeli forces. This marks the deadliest single incident involving Israeli soldiers in Gaza since the ceasefire began eight days ago.

Witnesses and civil defense officials confirmed that all the victims were from the Abu Shaaban family, which included women and children. The civil defense spokesman stated that they were killed while checking on their homes.

Israeli authorities maintain that the vehicle did not heed warnings, prompting military action. However, many residents in Gaza lack sufficient information regarding the positions occupied by Israeli troops, leading to tragic misinterpretations during such volatile times.

As humanitarian conditions remain dire in Gaza, this event adds to the long-standing tension and ongoing hostilities. Notably, discussions were recently held regarding the return of Palestinian residents from Egypt to Gaza, and negotiations continue regarding the return of hostages held captive.
