According to a recent AP-NORC poll, President Trump’s approval ratings on crucial issues like the economy and immigration have seen significant declines since March. Currently, only 31% of U.S. adults approve of his economic management, a noticeable drop from 40% earlier this year.
Notably, this marks the lowest approval rating for Trump on economic management during his presidency. Similarly, approval for his handling of immigration has decreased from 49% to 38%. Public confidence in his overall presidential performance has also dipped slightly to 36%, indicating a troubling trend among voters.
This decline is particularly concerning as Trump's previous strengths, such as law enforcement and immigration, now seem to be liabilities. Just a few months ago, 53% of Americans approved of his crime management which has now fallen to just 43%.
Republicans are expressing dissatisfaction as well, with only 69% approving of Trump's economic approach, down from 78% this past March. The economy is seen as a fundamental issue ahead of the upcoming midterms in 2026, suggesting that the political landscape may be changing as voter sentiment shifts.
A rising number of Hispanics express pessimism toward Trump's policies, indicating a complex voter dynamic that could play a significant role in the future electoral landscape. Overall, a significant portion of Americans, approximately 68%, continue to view the state of the economy as poor, reflecting ongoing concerns about economic recovery and Trump’s effectiveness as a leader.
