In a shocking turn of events, three suspects have been apprehended following a daring museum heist in the Netherlands. Over the weekend, thieves executed a bold plan, detonating explosives to breach the entrance of the Drents Museum in Assen. Among the stolen treasures was a valuable golden helmet on loan from Romania.
Authorities identified the arrested individuals as Douglas Chesley Wendersteyt and Bernhard Zeeman, both locals from Heerhugowaard, along with an unnamed woman. Despite searching their homes, investigators have not yet recovered the stolen artifacts.
The police are actively pursuing a fourth suspect, releasing surveillance images of a man seen at a nearby hardware store. "This is an absolute priority of the police and the public prosecutor," a police spokesperson stated.
Footage captured by security cameras shows hooded figures pulling at the museum's access door before the explosion occurred, leading to a chaotic scene. The investigation is ongoing, and officials remain hopeful for the recovery of the missing artifacts.
