First Lady Melania Trump is taking a stand against Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, after he claimed during a recent interview that Melania was introduced to her husband by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In response, her legal team has issued a stern warning, threatening to pursue damages exceeding $1 billion, labeling Biden’s comments as "false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory."
The claims stem from Biden's remarks made in an interview where he criticized President Trump's past connections with Epstein. Donald Trump, who was once friends with Epstein, has publicly stated that their friendship ended in the early 2000s due to Epstein allegedly poaching staff from Trump’s Florida golf club.
In a strongly worded legal letter, Melania Trump's attorneys demanded that Hunter retract his statements and offer a public apology. They allege that her reputation and finances have been significantly harmed by his claims. The letter also suggests that Biden has a history of leveraging others’ names for personal gain.
During the interview with filmmaker Andrew Callaghan, Biden mentioned that documents related to Epstein could implicate Donald Trump, also insinuating that Epstein was pivotal in connecting Melania and Trump. This claim was partly supported by comments from journalist Michael Wolff, who has faced backlash since a previous article about the matter was retracted.
Hunter's claims about Melania and Epstein have been deemed baseless and unwarranted, prompting her legal team to take action. They emphasized that a story previously published by The Daily Beast, which referenced these claims, was taken down following a challenge from her lawyers.
Melania Trump has expressed her intention to safeguard her dignity and insists those spreading harmful falsehoods face consequences. The White House is under scrutiny regarding the release of Epstein-related documents that have been alleged to contain information regarding his high-profile connections.
