Australian actor Julian McMahon, celebrated for his unforgettable characters in hit shows like Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has sadly passed away at the age of 56. His wife, Kelly Paniagua, revealed that McMahon died on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. In a heartfelt statement, she shared, “Julian loved life. He loved his family, friends, work, and fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
McMahon first rose to fame with the beloved supernatural series Charmed, earning a loyal fanbase before achieving greater acclaim as plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck, a medical drama that ran for six seasons from 2003 to 2010 and garnered him a Golden Globe nomination. Co-star Dylan Walsh expressed his shock and sorrow, stating, “We rode this wave together and I loved him. Jules! I know you’d want me to say something to make you smile.”
In addition to his roles in television, McMahon portrayed Doctor Doom in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four films and starred in three seasons of FBI: Most Wanted. Dick Wolf, the executive producer of FBI: Most Wanted, labeled the news of McMahon's passing as "shocking." A notable figure in Australian history, McMahon was the son of a former Australian prime minister and recently portrayed a prime minister in Netflix’s The Residence. He had three marriages, including one to singer-actress Dannii Minogue, Kylie Minogue's sister.
