A small passenger boat ran aground off Lompoul Beach, leading to the recovery of about 20 bodies, according to Xinhua and the Senegalese Press Agency. A boat that ran aground off Lompoul Beach in northern Senegal on Saturday left about 20 bodies on the shore, a report from Xinhua cited by the Senegalese Press Agency (APS). The incident was seen on the coast near Tebene, in the Potou Saradao area of Kebemer department, where gendarmes and firefighters recovered the bodies and transported them for identification.

Officials have not yet released details on how many people were aboard the boat, or why it ran aground. The cause of the incident remains unclear according to both Xinhua and APS.

In a separate account posted on Instagram, a user reportedly stated that 109 bodies were recovered, including 52 men, 42 women and 15 children, and that more than 80 people survived. The post contrasts the Xinhua figure and suggests a larger number of casualties.

Both reports agree on the gravity of the incident but differ on the scale. Because authorities have not published a full passenger list or cause of the grounding, the exact number of victims remains uncertain.
