Kenyan business student Nelson Amenya has gained recognition as a whistleblower after exposing what he claims is a dubious agreement between Kenya and the Adani Group. The deal involved a $2 billion proposal for the management of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the largest airport in Kenya, which was criticized for lacking transparency and potentially harming the national economy. Amenya, who studies in France, leaked details about the agreement on social media, leading to public outrage and strikes from airport workers.

Despite facing personal risks, including threats to his safety, Amenya believed that exposing the deal was crucial for the welfare of his country, stating, “It felt like a duty for me." His actions caught the attention of the Kenyan government, which later canceled the contracts amid rising allegations of corruption, particularly after U.S. authorities indicted Gautam Adani on bribery charges.

Although Amenya continues to face defamation lawsuits and threats, he remains committed to fighting corruption in Kenya, asserting that change comes from individual action rather than waiting for saviors. His journey highlights the ongoing battle against corruption and the importance of transparency in government dealings.
