On Nov. 5, 2026 Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning an attempted missile attack by Yemen’s Houthi militia aimed at Saudi Arabia’s city of Madinah. The ministry said the launch was a "flagrant violation of Saudi sovereignty and a breach of international law."
The statement described the Houthi action as a provocation that could inflame Muslim sentiment worldwide. It called the attempt a "tactical and plain act of terrorism" that undermined regional stability.
By denouncing the attack, Kuwait reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its commitment to Gulf Cooperation Council security. The ministry said Kuwait’s own security and that of all GCC members depend on Saudi stability.
It also affirmed support for all "measures taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents." The statement underscored that the attack posed a direct threat to Saudi people.
Iran, a supporter of the Houthis, had previously warned of the risk of missiles striking Saudi targets. Kuwait’s response follows past joint Saudi–GCC efforts to counter Houthi missile threats. The statement is the first known public condemnation from Kuwait regarding this specific incident.
