In brief

Heathrow Airport buzzed with excitement on Saturday as travelers returned in droves following a power outage that halted flights a day prior, forcing many to delay their travel plans.

On Saturday, energetic travelers flooded into Heathrow Airport in London, ready to continue their journeys after a shutdown caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation. Travelers were greeted with flickering information boards, as airport staff donned in purple uniforms jumped in to assist. Among them was Ganesh Suresh, a 25-year-old student who was desperate to return to Bangalore, India, after his Air India flight was canceled. His parents quickly secured new Virgin Atlantic tickets while he stayed overnight with friends. "I was so eager to get back," he said, reflecting on the frustration he had directed at his parents during the chaos. Travelers arrived early, with transport routes buzzing again after being virtually empty the day before. A representative from Heathrow stated the airport was "open and fully operational," accommodating an additional 10,000 passengers with extra flights scheduled. While flight boards showed most departures were on track, long lines at ticket counters hinted that some still faced frustrating delays.
