Two detainees have died and another is critically injured after a rooftop sniper opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) centre in Dallas, Texas, officials say. The shooter fired indiscriminately at the ICE facility and at a nearby unmarked van before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No law enforcement was hurt. FBI Director Kash Patel shared an image of unused ammunition from the scene, with one casing inscribed with the phrase 'ANTI-ICE.' This incident follows a series of violent attacks against ICE facilities, coinciding with the agency's heightened focus on immigration enforcement under current U.S. policies. Patel noted the attack appears ideologically motivated, and the FBI is treating it as an act of targeted violence. The shooter reportedly fired from an adjacent building, striking the intended ICE facility and a nearby van. Homeland Security officials emphasized the urgent need to curb inflammatory rhetoric that could lead to violence. Other public figures have also condemned politically charged violence, urging a return to civil discourse.
