In brief

The Lebanese Health Ministry said 8,956 people were killed and 30,664 wounded by Israeli military actions that began in October 2023. Between March and October 2026, more than four thousand people died and 12,428 were injured. A U.S.–mediated framework agreement signed last month remains controversial for its legal clarity and lack of a withdrawal timetable.

On 31 October, Lebanon’s Health Ministry announced that 8,956 people have been killed and 30,664 injured by Israeli military operations since the attacks began on 1 October 2023.

Between 2 March and 30 October 2026, the ministry recorded 4,389 deaths and 12,428 injuries caused by the same operations.

Israel launched a large‑scale offensive on 2 March 2026, displacing more than one million Lebanese residents and leaving Israeli forces occupying parts of southern Lebanon.

A framework agreement was signed last month under U.S. mediation, after several rounds of talks in Washington, to end the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The deal has been criticized for its unclear legal status and the absence of a clear timetable for Israeli forces to withdraw from Lebanon.
