In a wild turn of events, Orlando police are celebrating after recovering two pairs of Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings that are worth a staggering $769,500! The saga began when 32-year-old Jaythan Gilder allegedly posed as an NBA player's assistant to snag some high-end jewellery from a Tiffany store on February 26. While making his move, he distracted employees and bolted with the earrings, dropping an even pricier diamond ring valued at $587,000 in his wake. After he was caught, police witnessed him swallowing what they believed were the stolen earrings. For over two weeks, officers monitored Gilder at a hospital until the earrings were finally expelled from his system. The detective in charge remarked that the investigation transformed into a "marathon, not a sprint". When the earrings were returned, Tiffany's confirmed they were indeed the stolen items. Gilder, now in custody, has previous robbery charges linked to another Tiffany store. Talk about a shocking heist!
