In brief
Russian forces fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv, damaging residential buildings and injuring two people, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The attack followed warnings from President Zelenskiy about future strikes on infrastructure. U.S.-led talks in Abu Dhabi are scheduled to start shortly.
Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kyiv early Saturday, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Ballistic missiles struck the city’s suburbs and caused damage to residential buildings, while two people were injured.
Klitschko posted on Telegram, "Explosions in the Kyiv suburbs. The enemy is hitting infrastructure with ballistic missiles," and noted that debris had struck a five‑storey apartment building in a western district, with another façade damaged.
The city’s military administration also reported on Telegram that a kindergarten‑housing building was damaged. The mayor urged residents to stay alert, warning that further strikes could occur.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had earlier warned that Russia was preparing new attacks on energy targets, bridges and other infrastructure in a nightly video address.
Three days after the missiles struck, U.S.-led talks between Ukrainian and Russian negotiators are set to open in Abu Dhabi in an effort to address the four‑and‑a‑half‑year‑old conflict.
