Caroline Wilga, a 26-year-old backpacker from Germany, is thanking her lucky stars after being found in Western Australia's unforgiving outback. The young woman endured 11 nights lost in the bush, surviving on rainwater and sheltering in caves. Initially, Caroline had a frightening accident that caused her to leave her van; she lost control, rolled down a slope, and hit her head, leading to confusion.

After a motorist spotted her barefoot and waving for help, Caroline was airlifted to a hospital in Perth, where she is now recovering. In her heartfelt statement, she expressed profound gratitude towards the local community, medical staff, and those who searched for her. “My survival is thanks to the incredible support I received,” she shared.

Caroline emphasized the kindness shown to her during this harrowing experience, stating, "Western Australia has shown me the meaning of true community." Despite her ordeal, she now feels a deeper connection to the culture surrounding her, describing her savior, Tania Henley, as an "angel." The police described her rescue as an extraordinary stroke of luck, illustrating the power of hope and support in the face of adversity.
