In brief

The Republic Electoral Commission announced a repeat vote at 53 polling stations, covering 31 sites where results could not be determined and 22 annulled sites, including two in eastern Serbia. Voting will take place on Nov 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and preliminary results from Oct 26 showed the Student List leading with 52.17% of the vote.

In Serbia, the parliamentary election held on October 25 left 53 polling stations without clear results, so the Republic Electoral Commission (REC) announced a repeat vote on November 1.

53 polling stations will be revisited: 31 where local electoral commissions said results couldn’t be determined and 22 where votes had been annulled. Two of the stations are in eastern Serbia, home to a Bulgarian minority community.

"Repeat voting would take place at polling stations where the decisions of the competent local electoral commissions had established that the voting results could not be determined," said REC President Vladimir Dimitrijevic.

According to BTA, the repeat vote will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, allowing all ballots to be counted again before the Parliament assembles.

Preliminary results released on October 26 showed the Student List receiving 52.17% of the votes counted, while United Serbia trailed with 39.17%. Four minority lists also secured seats in Parliament.

By repeating voting at these 53 stations, Serbia aims to complete the electoral process and ensure that all citizens’ votes are included in the final tally.
