In brief

Sharjah Charity International prepared a 140‑tonne cargo load of winter clothing and food for Gaza, to be flown from Sharjah Airport under the ‘Warm Winter for Gaza’ campaign. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi inspected the shipment and praised the UAE’s support for Palestinian families, while Assistant Director Hamoud Al Afari highlighted the initiative’s reach toward one million beneficiaries. The cargo shipment is part of a larger UAE humanitarian effort that has delivered more than 136,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza, roughly 46 % of all international assistance there.

Today, Sharjah Charity International (SCI) loaded 140 tonnes of winter clothing and food into a cargo plane that will depart from Sharjah Airport for the Gaza Strip. The shipment is part of the “Warm Winter for Gaza” campaign, carried out in partnership with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, and aims to help Palestinians cope with cold weather. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, SCI’s chairman, inspected the help at the airport’s Cargo Village and praised the campaign.

Sheikh Saqr said the operation reflects the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to intensify humanitarian relief for Gaza. In a statement to WAM he wrote, “The winter clothing initiative is among the humanitarian programmes in which the association has participated since the launch of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in 2023.”

SCI has been working closely with the UAE’s relief arm. Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, confirmed that aid shipments continue to leave Sharjah Airport via a “Winter Clothing” initiative. He added that the plan is to reach one million beneficiaries in Gaza with clothing and blankets this winter.

Al Afari also highlighted the scale of UAE aid to Gaza. He said that the total volume of humanitarian assistance delivered by the UAE exceeds 136,000 tonnes, a figure that accounts for 46 percent of all international aid received by the territory. According to him, the cost of UAE aid is estimated at USD 4.3 billion.

The 140‑tonne cargo will carry scarves, jackets, and warm socks for children, women and men, together with non‑perishable food items. The shipment’s arrival in Gaza is expected to bolster the supply chain against the harsh winter conditions.

Sharjah Charter International continues its mission to deliver essential assistance, especially to children, women and the elderly. The partnership with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, launched in 2023, has become a cornerstone of the UAE’s broader humanitarian strategy in the region.

In the next phases, SCI plans to add further shipments to the “Warm Winter for Gaza” campaign, continuing the flow of aid from Sharjah to the besieged Strip.
