Three people were hospitalized after a stabbing near a primary school in Dandenong, southeast Melbourne, on Friday morning, Xinhua reported. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. at a site 29 km south‑east of Melbourne’s central business district.
A 28‑year‑old woman was taken to hospital with life‑threatening injuries. Two men, aged 26 and 35, were also admitted with serious, but not life‑threatening, wounds.
Police said investigators believe the three victims know each other. Detectives from the family‑violence unit have begun the inquiry.
Acting Inspector Rebecca Hall told reporters at the scene:
My understanding is that the children were inside the school at the time and were prevented from coming to the street and so did not witness anything. She added that the primary school was briefly put into lockdown while emergency services responded. The children were inside the building and were not exposed to the violence.Police also stated that they are not searching for anyone else in connection with the attack. The force has focused the investigation on the three known victims. This incident highlights the ongoing concern over violence in Melbourne’s suburbs. Local authorities remain on alert for any further developments as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.
