In Albania, a routine fire at a local dump spiraled out of control, further taxing weary firefighters. With suffocating heat and thick, toxic smoke clouding the air, citizens voiced their outrage outside government buildings, demanding accountability amid the growing pollution crisis.
The elderly have been hit particularly hard. Fatmir Dervishaj, 76, expressed her discontent, stating that summer feels increasingly isolating as she can’t meet friends due to the oppressive heat. Taxi driver Ermir Metushi noted that despite the discomfort, his earnings have surged as more people opt for air-conditioned rides amidst the sweltering conditions.
