A colossal container ship took an unexpected detour into a garden in Norway, all thanks to a sleepy watch officer! The 135-meter (443-foot) NCL Salten was navigating the waters of the Trondheim Fjord when the Ukrainian national, in his thirties, dozed off while on duty.

The unfortunate slumber led to the ship running aground in Byneset, just meters from a house. Investigators have charged the officer with negligent navigation, sparking a probe into whether the crew adhered to work and rest regulations.

Johan Helberg, the homeowner, described the surreal scene of waking up to find a massive ship in his front yard. "Five meters more and it would have crashed into my bedroom," he revealed. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and efforts to refloat the ship are currently underway. This isn't the first time the vessel has had a run-in with trouble, as it had previously run aground earlier in 2023 but managed to extricate itself!
