Suspected capsizing of 270‑person passenger boat off northern Cyprus

Off the coast of Kyrenia, a passenger boat reportedly took on water and capsized around 4 miles from shore. Preliminary reports say roughly 270 people were aboard.

Local authorities have confirmed that about 159 passengers have been rescued so far, while the remaining passengers remain missing. Mayor Murat Senkul said the situation is severe and urged calm.
