Russia's Vladimir Putin has thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the courage of his soldiers who have been fighting in Ukraine on the Russian side. Kim, in response, said he was willing to do everything I can to assist Russia.

The two leaders met on Wednesday in Beijing as China held one of its largest ever military parades, marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Asia.

Putin stated that bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea are friendly and noted that Pyongyang's military has played a role in liberating the Kursk region.

Your soldiers fought courageously and heroically, Putin told Kim.

He emphasized that Russia would never forget the sacrifices made by North Korean armed forces and their families.

Kim thanked Putin for acknowledging the sacrifices of North Korean troops, asserting that their bilateral relations are advancing across all areas. He committed to assisting Russia in any capacity necessary.

Reportedly, North Korea has sent around 15,000 troops to aid Russia in its invasion, receiving food, financial aid, and technical assistance in return.

These troops have been engaged in efforts to recapture territories within western Kursk, suffering significant casualties according to South Korean officials.

This meeting marks the third in two years as Moscow and Pyongyang reinforce their alliances amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and challenges posed by the West.
