A Texas man has been charged with stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever. The accused, 55-year-old Michael Lewis, was arrested in Indianapolis after sending explicit and threatening messages to Clark via social media platform X. Prosecutors say Lewis sent numerous alarming messages, including one claiming to have been driving by her house multiple times.

Clark reported the messages to the police, fearing for her safety. Authorities tracked Lewis down at a local hotel through the IP addresses linked to his messages. Lewis insisted that his messages were merely a “joke” and not intended as threats. If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison and hefty fines.

Clark, a rising star in women's basketball, highlighted the importance of standing against such intimidation, saying her experience emphasizes why many women hesitate to report similar incidents. The case follows a recent stalking arrest involving another collegiate athlete, underlining ongoing concerns about safety in the sports community.
