Controversial online influencer Andrew Tate has been released from house arrest by a Romanian court, according to his spokesman. Tate, 38, faces serious allegations including trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering alongside his brother Tristan. Now placed under judicial control, he can travel through Romania while adhering to legal conditions. Both brothers strongly deny the charges and emphasize their commitment to cooperating with legal proceedings.
Tate was initially placed under house arrest in August when prosecutors opened a second criminal investigation against him, Tristan, and four other suspects. This investigation involved various allegations, including human trafficking and forming an organization to exploit women. A separate case was sent back to prosecutors by the Court of Appeals in Bucharest, highlighting the legal complexities surrounding their situation.
The brothers also face extradition requests from the UK, where they are accused of rape and human trafficking. Recently, a British court ruled that authorities could seize over £2 million from them for tax evasion related to their online businesses. Andrew Tate condemned the ruling as a "coordinated attack" against him. He is known for his controversial statements and has faced bans from social media for his opinions. Having gained millions of followers, Tate has been living in Romania after previously being based in the UK.
