In the West Bank village of Qusra, two Palestinian families have been trapped inside their houses since Sunday after Israeli settlers closed the road to their gates and cut off water and power.

Activists have left water and food outside the homes, but Israeli soldiers refuse to allow them to enter directly. The settlers’ tents have been removed by the army, but the block remains.

The Israeli Defense Forces say the area is a “closed military zone,” and that civilians—including the activists—were not prevented from delivering aid. They claim soldiers only protected the residents and instructed them to stay in their homes.

Local officials report that the army used tear gas and stun grenades during an earlier attempt to disperse the settlers, and that settler-led expulsions have long been a concern.

Humanitarian groups stress it is illegal under international law for settlers to seize Palestinian property, yet the Israeli government continues to expand such settlements. The IDF says it will investigate and arrest those who break the law.
