In a shocking incident, three Israelis lost their lives, and eight others were wounded due to a Palestinian shooting attack in the north of the occupied West Bank. The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported that the victims included two women in their 60s and a man in his 40s. Israeli military officials indicated that the attackers, identified as two Palestinians, opened fire in the vicinity of the village of al-Funduq, before fleeing the scene, leading to a manhunt with roadblocks established.
Paramedic Avichai Ben Tzurya described the scene as chaotic, with victims found in vehicles, while the bus driver, seriously injured yet conscious, was treated along with others. Those in need of medical help were swiftly evacuated to hospitals in central Israel. In response to the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised justice, stating that those responsible would not escape accountability.
Hamas praised the attack, labeling it a "heroic response" to what they describe as ongoing Israeli aggression, particularly related to the conflict in Gaza. Tensions in the West Bank have been escalating since the onset of violence following Hamas's attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. The global community watches closely, as both sides continue to face devastating casualties, with reports confirming the deaths of two Palestinians during recent Israeli military actions in the same area.
