Lebanon's health ministry reports that the death toll from Israeli strikes has surpassed 3,000 amidst ongoing hostilities involving Hezbollah that began in March. The current toll stands at 3,020, reflecting the grim reality of the conflict which shows no signs of easing even following a fragile ceasefire instituted a month ago. On March 2, Hezbollah initiated the conflict by firing rockets into Israel after an Israeli strike killed Iran's supreme leader.

Since the ceasefire extension was agreed upon recently, the situation has only escalated. More than 400 of those deaths occurred after April 17, indicating that violations have been rampant despite the supposed pause in hostilities. Both Israel and Hezbollah have carried out attacks, adjusting their military strategies during this volatile period.

Lebanon has condemned the continuous Israeli strikes, particularly as they undermine its attempts to dismantle armed groups within its borders. Recently, Israeli military actions have extended across southern Lebanon, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, with 20 Israeli soldiers and four civilians reported dead since the conflict reignited.

This mounting toll illustrates the harsh humanitarian consequences of the ongoing hostilities, prompting further calls for a resolution as both sides prepare to engage in renewed discussions in June.
