Vice‑President J.D. Vance pulled his planned Swiss trip in a last‑minute cancellation, putting a pause on a fresh round of U.S.‑Iran talks.

The White House said the trip was delayed because the logistics were not simple or predictable, and had not yet been finalised.

The talks were due just after the U.S. removed its naval blockade of Iran earlier this week, following the signing of a 14‑point agreement.

The agreement offers a 60‑day window to reach a final pact, opens the Strait of Hormuz, guarantees Iran will never create a nuclear weapon, provides $300 billion for reconstruction, and lifts all sanctions.

Meetings would have focused on how to implement the deal and later on longer‑term issues like Iran’s nuclear programme.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces carried out air strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, killing soldiers and adding tension to the region, which may have contributed to the postponement.

The Swiss venue for the talks was postponed, but preparations continue, and the U.S. is keen to start technical discussions as soon as possible.
