ATLANTA (AP) — A crisis was narrowly avoided at Atlanta's bustling Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Monday, thanks to a family member who alerted the police about a potential shooting plan. Billy Joe Cagle, a 49-year-old resident of Cartersville, Georgia, was apprehended with an AR-15 rifle and 27 rounds of ammunition found in his truck parked outside the terminal. The family's notification came after Cagle streamed his dangerous intentions on social media. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum credited the family for their timely intervention, stating that Cagle was planning to inflict harm on as many individuals as possible. He now faces multiple charges, including making terroristic threats and illegal possession of a firearm. Authorities are investigating how he obtained the weapon. Mayor Andre Dickens expressed gratitude that a potential tragedy was averted through good intelligence and community responsibility.
