DALLAS (AP) — Federal prosecutors on Thursday accused rapper Pooh Shiesty and eight others of robbing three men at gunpoint and kidnapping them earlier this year in Texas following a contract dispute involving rapper Gucci Mane’s record label. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Dallas declined to name the victims, who are only referred to by initials, one of whom is described as the owner of 1017 Records. Ryan Raybould, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, stated that the victims had come to Dallas for a legitimate business meeting but were met with firearms and violence from Shiesty and his associates. On January 10, after the victims flew to Dallas for what they believed was a business meeting, Shiesty allegedly arranged a meeting to discuss his contract with 1017 Records. Once inside the studio, he and his accomplices executed a coordinated armed takeover. Shiesty allegedly brandished an AK-style pistol, forcing one victim to sign a release from a recording contract and another co-defendant barricaded the door to prevent their escape. Following the incident, some defendants were seen on social media flaunting items believed to be from the robbery. Pooh Shiesty, already on home confinement due to a prior firearms conviction, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations.
