The FBI has released the first physical description of the man believed to have kidnapped Nancy Guthrie, the mother of US news anchor Savannah Guthrie. Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared in the middle of night from her Tucson, Arizona, home and was last seen two weeks ago. The authorities believe she was taken against her will.

The FBI has analysed footage from a doorbell camera outside her home and believes she was kidnapped by a male who is between 5ft 9in (175cm) and 5ft 10in tall, with an average build. This identification of the man in the video as a suspect marks a significant update in the case, which has garnered massive attention both in the US and abroad.

The FBI noted earlier in the week that they had determined identifying details through forensic analysis, including the suspect's 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. Search teams have also uncovered a pair of black gloves linked to the investigation.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen when family members dropped her off at home after visiting. Church members noticed her absence the following day and alerted family. Officials are worried about her health due to her medications being left behind and confirmed that she is 'not in good physical health.'

Since the release of the doorbell camera footage, the FBI has received over 13,000 tips about the case, leading them to double the reward for information from $50,000 to $100,000. A man was recently detained in connection to her disappearance but has since been released without charges. Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have publicly urged the kidnapper to return their mother, indicating they would pay for her safe return.
