French Ambassador Faces Disciplinary Probe After Alleged Misconduct in the Central African Republic (CAR)
French ambassador Bruno Foucher is now under investigation by the ministry after accusations that he brought some 30 women into his official residence in Bangui and engaged in sexual relations with a few of them.
The allegations, dating from January to March, also raised a security concern as some women reportedly stayed overnight, prompting ministers to open disciplinary proceedings.
For now, the exact nature and duration of the investigation remain unclear, but the case marks a rare move against a top diplomat in France’s overseas missions.
Both France and the CAR have been working to rebuild ties after a strained relationship in recent years, and the ambassador’s alleged misconduct could jeopardise those efforts.
