RYE, N.Y. — Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, has filed a $250,000 negligence lawsuit against her suburban hometown of Rye, New York, as well as a power utility. This lawsuit follows an incident where she tripped and fell while out walking on August 28. Pirro claims she tripped over a wooden block sticking out from a steel plate in the roadway, which was covering gas-main work conducted by Consolidated Edison.

The complaint document states that due to the alleged negligence of the city and the utility, she sustained serious injuries including bruises and contusions to various parts of her body. Consequently, she has required medical attention and continues to experience pain and suffering. Both the city and Con Ed have sought to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that the risks were evident and that the city had no negligence in maintaining the area where the incident occurred.

Having previously served as both judge and district attorney in Westchester County, Pirro's legal battle with her city continues to unfold, as representatives for all involved declined to comment on the litigation.
