Two more people have been charged over a theft at the Louvre Museum last month, the Paris prosecutor's office said.

A 38-year-old woman has been charged with complicity in organized theft and criminal conspiracy. Separately, a man, aged 37, was charged with theft and criminal conspiracy. Both denied any involvement.

Four men carried out the lightning-quick daylight theft on October 19, which resulted in the loss of jewels worth €88 million. The two previously arrested men admitted their roles in the heist, while the latest suspects face serious charges.

Public opinion has expressed relief at the progress of the investigation, but many see the incident as a significant embarrassment for France. The Minister of Culture has promised that measures will be taken to enhance security, as current arrangements seemed severely lacking.

The robbery highlighted vulnerabilities in the museum's security system, with critiques focusing on the absence of surveillance in crucial areas. Following the heist, some of the museum's most valuable jewels have been transferred to the Bank of France as a precaution.
