American security contractors have been enlisted to assist displaced Palestinians returning to northern Gaza, a significant step in the ongoing cease-fire with Hamas, as per officials familiar with the situation. These teams will monitor the Netzarim corridor, a critical area divided in Gaza, to ensure vehicles transporting individuals do not carry weapons.

Previously, Israeli military forces mandated a large-scale evacuation of northern Gaza, leading to a mass exodus to the south. With the new 42-day cease-fire now underway, there’s a plan for selected troop withdrawals to allow Gazans to safely return home. Despite tensions, travelers on foot will not undergo inspections, while vehicles will be subject to checks managed by the private contractors starting Saturday.

This agreement, facilitated by Qatar, Egypt, and the US, aims to balance Israeli security concerns with the needs of the Palestinian people amid ongoing conflict.
