Pope Francis is currently hospitalized at Policlinico Agostino Gemelli in Rome, where he has been receiving treatment for pneumonia and encountering critical health challenges, including kidney problems. On Monday, the Vatican reported that “the night went well” for the Pope, who is now resting after a concerning weekend that included respiratory distress.

Though the Pope is described as “alert and well oriented,” and some health markers have shown improvement due to blood transfusions, he continues to require supplemental oxygen. His kidney issues are reportedly “under control,” following a diagnosis of mild kidney failure.

This hospitalization marks a significant moment for the 88-year-old pontiff, as he has experienced several health complications over the years, making this his longest hospital stay for a lung infection. Prominent figures, including Cardinal Timothy Dolan, have highlighted the severity of Francis's condition, urging prayers from followers worldwide. Vigils and prayers are being held as the faithful come together, hoping for the Pope's recovery.
