One of the biggest festival flops in history, the original Fyre Festival led to criminal charges and major backlash in 2017. Billy McFarland, the mastermind behind the festival, announced plans for its reboot after his release from prison. However, uncertainty looms as ticket holders were notified that the event is on hold, with a promise to announce new details soon.

Initially promoted as a luxurious getaway on Isla Mujeres, local authorities have stated they found no record of planning permissions for the event. Following this, the stated location shifted to Playa del Carmen, but officials there have reiterated that they had no knowledge of the festival either.

Despite the setbacks, McFarland remains hopeful and has claimed to have sold some tickets. He faces scrutiny, however, with past investor Andy King advising potential attendees to "proceed with caution." The festival has yet to announce its lineup, leaving many skeptical about a successful reboot.
