Teen Arrested After 16-Year-Old Attacks Two 13-Year-Old Girls at German School
Two 13‑year‑old girls have been seriously injured and a 16‑year‑old suspect was arrested after a violent incident at the Welfen‑Gymnasium secondary school in the small town of Schongau, Upper Bavaria.
Police launched a major operation in the school area. The suspect was in possession of a knife and a firearm, and authorities say he acted alone.
Neither girl is in a life‑threatening state, but the full extent of injuries to other victims is still being clarified. Police spokeswoman confirmed the use of the weapon was unclear and trailed a knife attack claim.
The incident is a “rampage”,
according to the police.
Bavaria’s interior minister, Herr Joachim Herrmann, told a TV station that the girls were likely stabbed, but police had not confirmed. He added the suspect had previously received psychiatric treatment and might have been a former student.
The school—founded in 1887 and originally all‑girls—now serves both boys and girls. A support point for relatives of affected students was set up at a local fire station.
