What Happened?
Ukrainian forces launched a night missile attack that hit a key military plant in Cheboksary, a city deep inside Russia. The hit was credited to FP‑5 Flamingo cruise missiles, each carrying a 1,150kg warhead and 3,000km range.
Why It Matters
The attack strikes a facility that supplies Moscow’s army with parts for drones and missiles. Such deep strikes are rare, so the operation could raise tensions even further.
Quick Facts
- Distance from front line: 560 miles.
- Three people injured reported by local officials.
- Additional hits: Mariupol port, Samara refinery, Black‑Sea oil tanker.
- Russia’s air defence claimed to down 326 Ukrainian drones; Ukraine’s air force downed 181.
- At least two people died and 26 injured in Ukraine last 24 hours.
Tech in the Battle
FP‑5 Flamingo missiles are a high‑range cruise system that can reach major Russian cities, including the capital. Ukraine is also working on other missile types with Western partners to increase pressure on Moscow.
Current Situation
Russian President Putin has rejected talks. Despite claims of troop advances, front‑line moves are largely static. The new strike shows Ukraine’s expanding reach.
