In the early hours of Tuesday, a celebratory night turned tragic at Santo Domingo's Jet Set nightclub when the ceiling collapsed, claiming at least 221 lives. Carwin Javie Molleja was at the concert with his mother, Carmin, when the disaster struck. Initially dismissing the small pieces of falling debris, Carwin recalled the chaos that ensued: screams, falling ceilings, and the frantic search for his missing friend, Jessica.

Carwin and his mother were struck but managed to escape the rubble. As they fled, he bravely attempted to go back inside to rescue Jessica and her sister, but the overwhelming debris made any effort futile. "People were going crazy," he described, witnessing the frantic rescue attempts. Despite the arrival of emergency services, he felt helpless as he searched for Jessica's voice among the chaos. Tragically, her body was later discovered amid the rubble.

Reflecting on the night, Carwin expressed deep remorse for not being able to save his friend, saying, "It feels awful not being able to do anything." His heart-wrenching story highlights the impact of this disaster on survivors and families alike, underscoring the profound loss felt within the community.
